Coming into the position January 1, 2015, Mr. Tony H. Seal brought a strong educational background to the role of Director of Schools.
Mr. Seal has spent almost three decades working in public education in Hancock County as a CTE classroom/shop teacher, School-to-Work Coordinator, coach, bus driver, Supervisor of Transportation, Supervisor of Attendance, and Supervisor of the GED Program.
Mr. Seal began his educational career as a vocational teacher at the Hancock County Vocational School. His love of basketball led him to the head coaching position of the Hancock County High School Boys team for a total of 17 years. Through the spirit of competition and true sportsmanship, Seal instilled work ethic and character in the students involved in basketball.
While he no longer serves as a coach, it is not uncommon to see Mr. Seal at a basketball, football, or baseball game cheering and supporting the team that he spent a big part of his life coaching.
In 2011, Mr. Seal moved into administration, serving four years as Transportation and Attendance Supervisor at the Central Office of Hancock County Schools. He makes decisions based on what is in the best interest of all students in the Hancock County School System. His goal is to improve morale of teachers and all employees of the school system.
Mr. Seal, a Hancock County High alumnus, earned a Bachelor of Science at Tusculum College, a Master of Education at East Tennessee State University, and an Administrative Endorsement at Lincoln Memorial University. He and his wife, Pat, have two children, two grandchildren, and several horses.
