Ms. Janet Biddle takes students step by step through different situations that your child could face at some point in his or her lifetime. Class discussions include every student. And no one is made to feel ashamed of his or her contribution to the class.

Some of the values the students learn about are:

Text Box: 6 Pillars of Character
1.	Responsibility: represented by the color green, a person of character is accountable; they do what they are supposed to do, have perseverance, do their best, use self-control, think before they act, and consider the consequences for their choices.
2.	Trustworthiness: represented by the color blue. A person of character is honest; they don’t deceive, cheat or steal. They are reliable and do what they say they will do. they also have the courage to do the right thing, are loyal and stand by their family, friends and country.
3.	Respect: represented by the color yellow (think of the Golden Rule, treats others the way they want to be treated. A person of character is tolerant and accepting of differences of others, uses good manners, and are courteous and considerate of the feelings of others.
4.	Fairness: represented by the color orange. A person of character is fair and plays by the rules. They treat people equally, takes turns and shares with others. They are open-minded to different view points, listens to others and doesn’t blame others carelessly or take advantage of others.
5.	Caring: represented by the color red. A person of character is kind, loving, considerate, charitable, compassionate, and shows they care about others. They are thankful and express gratitude for what people do for them. They are also forgiving of others and help those in need.
6.	Citizenship: represented by the color purple. A person of character does their share to make their school and community better. They are cooperating, a good neighbor, obeys laws and rules. They respect authority and do what they can to protect the environment.

One pillar is concentrated on each six weeks. A student is chosen from each classroom that has demonstrated the character trait.
