Parent Involvement Plan
Hancock County Middle/High School Parent
Involvement Plan was jointly developed by Hancock County Middle/High School
teachers and the 2005-2006 Parent Advisory Council to establish expectations
for parent involvement.
Hancock County Middle/High
School holds a Title I annual meeting at the beginning of each school year.
The meeting informs parents of the school’s participation with Title I,
explains the requirements of Title I, and the right of the parents to be
involved in the school. Hancock County
Middle/High School holds a flexible number of meetings/activities in the
morning, afternoon and evening for the parent’s convenience.
Hancock County Middle/High School communicates with
parents in an organized, ongoing, and timely way, in the planning, review, and
improvement of programs for parent involvement through:

The Parent Advisory Council reviewed with school
administrators and teachers the current parent involvement activities and
planned future activities.
Hancock County Middle/High School provides a
description and explanation of the Tennessee State Curriculum and assessment of
student progress. Parents have been provided access to the Tennessee State
Curriculum with a link Hancock County Middle and High School webpages.
Different forms of academic assessment are used to
measure student progress.
Opportunities are provided for regular parent
meetings and communication to formulate suggestions, participate in the
decision-making process concerning their child, and to respond to suggestions
as soon as practically possible. This
includes:
Parent and Teacher Conferences - These are planned
school wide to help parents keep abreast of their child’s academic progress.
Invitations are distributed to parents to inform them of the event and sign in
forms are utilized at each conference.
Teachers and staff at Hancock County Middle/High
School participate in staff development to help improve communication with
parents and academic achievement.
The Hancock County Middle/High School-Home compact
was a collaborative project developed by the Family and Community Advisory
Council which included parents of children enrolled in Hancock County
Middle/High School and teachers. All
parents were given a copy of the Home-School compact at the beginning of the
school year.
