In Hancock County Schools, our top priorities are the health and safety of the students and staff. The HCS Leadership Team has been working diligently to begin school for students on Monday, August 17th.
Students will be returning to school in a hybrid model that will involve mostly virtual instruction. We are working to integrate a plan that will allow small groups of students back on campus using staggered dates and times.
Please wait for instructions from individual schools on how to proceed.
While there are many changes occurring in our world, the mission of Hancock County Schools, “Success through Perseverance,” continues to be our focus. Covid-19 information changes regularly; therefore, flexibility will be needed throughout the school year and instructional changes may take place.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and flexibility as we try to make decisions that will support student learning. Information regarding school reopening and changes throughout the school year will be communicated via the Hancock County Schools website (www.hancockcountyschools.com) and HCES’s and HCMHS’s official social media pages.
The HCS Reopening Plan has had three major updates:
1. Students and staff will be required to wear masks.
2. Students using the virtual learning option will be permitted to participate in athletics and extracurricular activities.
3. Students will begin school on August 17th. All instruction during the first two weeks of school (August 17-28) will be virtual.
The Hancock County School System does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, disability, or age in its programs and activities.
